Colorful seaside village and boats in a Mediterranean harbor beneath mountains
Harbor View imagined

Harbor View is a small coastal town in Washington State. With a population of 1,247; the town gets significantly busier during summer months. The town sits 45 minutes north of Seattle.

Harbor View carries a unique history as it began as a shipwreck settlement rather than a planned town. “The Mercy Bell” a coastal schooner came through during a winter storm. A few of these survivors stayed.

The name Harbor View supposedly came from a quote made by Elias Vane “You can see the whole harbor from here.Nothing comes in or out without at least someone seeing.”

By the 1890s, the settlement had become a small logging and fishing community.Fishing salmon, crab and oysters paid/ fed many townsfolk. The railroad briefly connected the mills to the docks which helped significantly with the growth of the area.
